Governor Josh Shapiro has proposed legislation that would that would seal eviction records for those never evicted.
The governor has proposed that any eviction notice filed that does not lead to a legal eviction would be sealed.
Evictions can be presented for various reasons like owed money, damage to property, violations of renter’s agreement. Shapiro argues that legal fillings of evictions can be illegitimate and lead to no legal eviction but harm all future renters’ applications.
Under the proposal Shapiro has laid out, is fillings would automatically become sealed if no eviction occurs.
