Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf plans to create a Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps to help with preparations for the possible return of COVID-19 this fall.
Wolf explains more about what he envisions with this public service initiative. “To open our economy to its maximum potential, we will need to boost our ability to contain this highly transmissible virus,” Wolf said. “This new program that will expand our ability to conduct contact tracing and testing and mobilize Pennsylvanians to all sorts of things to contain the COVID-19 virus.”
In order to minimize the risk of returning to a financially harmful situation where Stay-at-Home orders need to be put back into place, Wolf believes that preparation and planning needs to begin now.
An estimated one in six Pennsylvania residents who are able to work do not have a job and many people will not be returning to their former jobs so this plan would provide the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge and experience gained over the past couple of months.
