Governor Josh Shapiro is celebrating increased efficiency in state government with decreased hiring times for vacant positions and a reduction in permit back log.
In January 2023, it took on average 90 days to fill vacant positions in state government. Today that number is down to 54 days.
The Commonwealth has now also seen a 98 percent reduction in permit backlog due to the increase of hiring efficiencies, according to Shapiro’s office.
The governor claims with streamlining efforts, updating 84-year-old civil service hiring requirements, and signing the HIRE executive order Pennsylvania is running efficiently.
