A group of local firefighters will welcome local dignitaries to a groundbreaking ceremony for a new fire station tomorrow.
At 4 p.m. on Friday, construction will officially begin on the new Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department at 1212 Evans City Road. Department representatives will be on hand along with site plans.
Congressman Mike Kelly was instrumental in securing $2 million in federal funding for this project as part of the 2024 budget and has requested an additional $800,000 for a new fire engine in the 2027 budget.
This project is also being supported through community fundraising, grants, and other funding sources such as a $750,000 capital campaign made possible by Connoquenessing residents, businesses, and community partners.
