PIAA Basketball:
–Grove City defeated Highlands 45-38 last night in the state Class 4A Second Round. Kade Persinger led the Eagles with 17 points as the eliminated the WPIAL champion Golden Rams. Grove City will meet Hickory Friday in the Western Region quarterfinals.
–The North Allegheny Girls defeated State College 51-38 and improve to 24-3 this season. They will meet Nazareth in the 6A Western Region quarterfinals Friday.
The Butler Boys will meet Upper St. Clair tonight in the 6A Second Round. The game has been moved to the UPMC Events Center on the campus of Robert Morris University in Moon. Tip-off has also been moved back to 8pm. Hear the game on WBUT beginning at 7:50pm. Both teams enter the game 21-4.
PIHL Hockey:
–Thomas Jefferson eliminated North Catholic 4-1 in the 1A semifinals.
–Mars and Baldwin will meet tonight in the 2A semifinals. Game time is 9pm at the Robert Morris Island Sports Center.
