Motorists are advised to be prepared for the next step in a significant road project on Route 228 beginning early next week.
PennDOT says Harbison Road from Route 228 to Forsythe Road will be closed Monday and that closure will continue through September 11th.
This will allow for crews to construct a new jug handle which is a type of ramp that allows drivers to change directions without stopping the flow of traffic. The Harbison Road ramp will be graded and paved in order to connect with the new alignment of Route 228.
Local residents will have access during construction. This work is part of the Balls Bend Safety Improvement Project.
The overall cost for this project is $26.5 million and it is expected to be completed in January of 2025.
