State health officials are encouraging local municipalities to apply for funding that would create opportunities for residents to engage in physical activity.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Capacity-Building Pre-Planning Assistance Program grants of up to $3,000 are available to develop active transportation plans.
This grant is part of the WalkWorks program which encourages connecting local destinations with improved pedestrian, bicycle, and transit networks.
A one hour webinar is planned for tomorrow (Thursday) at noon to review the application process. The deadline to submit an application is May 31st with grants awarded in July. Visit the Department of Health’s website for more information.
