As many head outdoors for summertime activities, state health leaders are urging residents to be aware of Lyme Disease.
The disease is prevalent in Pennsylvania, which ranks in the top 10 states for Lyme.
The disease is a result of an untreated tick bite.
State Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen.
“I also want to make sure people know that Lyme Disease is treatable,” said Bogen. “Symptoms can begin with in three days to a month after a bite and those systems can include a rash that may look like a bullseye but not necessarily, fever and chills, fatigue, headache, muscle and joint aches, and swollen lymph nodes”
If treated quickly, Lyme can be resolved with a course of antibiotics.
