High School Sports:
–Hempfield edged Butler for the WPIAL Rifle championship Tuesday. The Spartans shot 798-64X to the Golden Tornado’s 798-57X in a near-perfect night for both teams. The “X” is the number of shots a competitor in the sport has placed in what is known as the “X” ring in the very center of the 10-ring target. It is primarily used as a tie-breaker in competition. The Armstrong shooters finished fourth with 795-63X.
Butler’s Jackson Jungling was one of four shooters with perfect scores of 100-10x. Jackson will look to defend his 2025 Individual WPIAL championship Thursday.
Girls Basketball:
–Karns City-38 Dubois Central Catholic-36. The Gremlins improved to 19-2 this season. Dubois CC fell to 17-5.
–Moniteau-38 West Shamokin-34.
Boys Basketball:
–Moniteau-58 West Shamokin-49.
–Grove City-56 Mercer-44.
–Hickory-59 Slippery Rock-26.
