High School Sports:
–The Butler Track & Field teams had three first place finishes Friday at the Tri-State Track Association meet at Edinboro. Butler’s Jack Codispot won the Pole Vault with a jump of 15′ 1″ – breaking the school record set 21 years ago by Jared Farabee. The clearance puts Codispot up to #2 in the Pennsylvania Indoor rankings.
–Also Friday – Alexia Mechling won the High Jump. Isaiah Seybert, Guinness Brown, Cade Gratzmiller and Ryan Marcella won the 4×200 Relay. Liz Simms ran under the state qualifying time in the 800 meter run, and the 4×200 Relay team of Simms, Emma Stewart, Taylor Timmons and Gabby Boden ran a season-best time for second place.
Boys Basketball:
–Mars defeated Ambridge 77-58 Sunday in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame Classic, played at Montour high school. The Planets improved to 17-1. Andrew Recchia led Mars with 19 points.
–Pine-Richland defeated Canon-McMillan 82-66 in the Classic, improving to 15-2. Dan Petcash led the Rams with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
–Mars 9th grade boys defeated Butler 63-41.
–In their most recent game, the Butler 7th grade gold team lost to Valley 34-30. Landon Lacey led Butler with 8.
