The Knoch Boys Basketball team will host Armstrong tonight at 7:30pm in their final regular season game. Hear the game on WISR beginning at 7:15pm.
The WPIAL Basketball Playoff Pairings will be announced tomorrow night. All six Butler County Boys teams have qualified.
The Butler 7th grade Gold basketball team defeated Knoch 40-30 in the final regular-season game Friday. Derek Snyder led the Golden Tornado with 19 points.
The Mars 9th grade Boys defeated North Catholic 70-60 to complete a 16-3 season. Chris Dvorak led the Planets with 25 points.
The Butler Girls Bowling team led qualifying at the first-ever Penn-Ohio Challenge Saturday hosted by St. Vincent College in Greensburg. Butler fell to Brookfield, Ohio in the championship semifinal roll-off. Greensburg-Salem won the tournament. Plum won the boys division.
Both Butler bowling teams will be competing in the WPIBL Championships this week. The Girls are defending champions.
The Butler Track & Field teams attended the TSTCA #5 meet in Edinboro University on Saturday. The Girls 4×800, 4×400 and 4×200 relay teams all hit the PA Indoor State qualifying times in those relays. The 4×800 relay team of Gabby Boden, Chesna Tomko, Chelsey Kabel and Liz Simms won the event while the 4×200 relay team and 4×400 relay team of Gabby Boden, Liz Simms, Taylor Timmons and Chesna Tomko placed second. Other highlights included Elana DiPippa placing second in the Triple Jump and Anna Baxter with a fourth place finish ion the 60 Hurdles.
Sami Taoufik led the way for the boys team with a victory in the high jump and places in the long and triple jumps. The 4×200 relay team of Brayden Young, Guinness Brown, Byron Manchester and Isaiah Seybert placed second as did the 4×400 relay team of Guinness Brown, Ethan Depew, Byron Manchester and Isaiah Seybert. Andrew Kline placed third in the pole vault The 4×800 team of Aden Dressler, Ethan Depew, Ryder Kriley, Cole Lyons placed third and the Distanced medley relay team of Aden Dressler, Cody Reddick, Cade Gratzmiller, Skyler Vavro also placed third.
Next up are the Tri-State championships this Saturday at Edinboro. Both teams hope to repeat with the girl’s going for their fourth title in a row. The boys are looking to go for back to back championships.
