High School Sports:
–Three Butler County teams have reached the PIAA Girls Volleyball semifinals and will play Tuesday.
–WPIAL champion Knoch will meet Montour in a 3A semifinal match at Seneca Valley high school at 7:30pm.
–Freeport will meet Beaver at Seneca Valley at 6pm in the 2A semifinals.
–Seneca Valley will meet Garnet Valley at State College high school at 5pm in a 4A match.
–Only one local team made it into the PIAA Soccer semifinals. The Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Boys will will meet Brockway Tuesday at Slippery Rock high school at 7pm in the 1A semifinals.
–The Karns City Girls Soccer team had their season ended in the first round of the PIAA tournament with a 2-1 loss to Mercyhurst Prep in the 2A quarterfinals Saturday.
WPIAL Football:
–Pine-Richland (12-0) will meet Central Catholic (10-2) in the WPIAL 6A championship game Saturday at Heinz Field. Kick-off is 2pm.
That game is one of four championship games Saturday at Heinz. Aliquippa (12-0) and Quaker Valley (11-1) meet in the 3A championship at 11am. Penn-Trafford (11-1) and Gateway (11-1) play for the 5A title at 5pm. Montour (9-2) and Thomas Jefferson (10-1) meet in the 4A championship game at 8pm.
–Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic will meet Washington in the 2A semifinals Friday. Kick-off is 7:30pm at Moon high school.
–Grove City won the District-10 5A championship with a 35-14 win over Meadville Saturday. The Eagles improved to 11-0 this season. They will meet Hollidaysburg in the PIAA first round this Friday at Slippery Rock University.
The Karns City Gremlins will meet Sharon in the first round of the PIAA playoffs this Friday.
