Girls Basketball:
–North Catholic clinched the Class 4A Section-1 championship with an 83-41 win over Burrell. Kylee Lewandowski netted 26 points and had 10 rebounds.
–Knoch edged Freeport 53-52. It was the eighth consecutive victory for the Knights, who improved to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in section play. Freeport is now 13-6 overall and 10-3 in section play.
–Mars topped Armstrong 28-26. The Planets are now 14-6 overall and 7-4 in Class 5A Section-2 and have qualified for the playoffs.
–Seneca Valley defeated Fox Chapel 51-47.
–Butler fell to North Allegheny 62-39.
–AC Valley defeated Venango Catholic 42-27. Nine AC Valley players scored at least a point.
Boys Basketball:
–Butler closes section play tonight at Seneca Valley. Tip-off is 7:30pm. Hear the game with Tyler Friel beginning at 7:20pm on WBUT.
–Knoch will host Freeport. Hear the game on WISR with Scott Briggs beginning at 7:15pm.
Hockey:
–Butler defeated Mt. Lebanon 4-3 in overtime. Troy Gilliland netted the game-winner 2:49 into the overtime. Connor Strobel stopped 36 of 39 shots in net for Butler. Brody Simko scored twice for Butler.
–North Catholic defeated Wheeling Catholic 11-2.
–The Butler JV team defeated Seneca Valley 2 by a final score of 3-2. Colton Gregory led Butler with two goals and an assist. Parker Worlsey had the other Butler goal. Alec Malichky and Jaxon Read scored for Seneca Valley. Hayden Wheeler stopped 17 shots for the Golden Tornado. Casey Frank stopped 21 for the Raiders. Butler’s final regular season game is this Friday against Mars at the Baierl Ice Center Complex at 9:40pm.
