High School Sports:
Girls Basketball:
–Butler defeated North Hills 55-46. Jordan Kauffman led Butler with 18 points.
–North Catholic defeated Freeport 71-37. Kylee Lewandowski led the Trojans with 30 points. North Catholic is one win away from clinching the Class 4A Section-1 title. They improved to 16-1 overall and 11-0 in the section. Freeport fell to 14-3 overall and 9-2 in section play.
–Franklin Regional defeated Mars 54-45. Tai Johnson led the Planets with 19.
–Apollo-Ridge defeated Knoch 43-36.
–Seneca Valley defeated Pine-Richland 46-20.
Tonight in Boys Basketball:
–Butler will host Pine-Richland. Tip-off is 7:30pm. Pre-game on WBUT will be 7:20pm.
–Knoch will host Highlands. WISR pre-game is 7:15pm. Tip-off at 7:30pm.
The Butler 7th grade Gold team defeated Springdale Monday, holding the Dynamos to just five field goals. Ben Miller led Butler with nine points and eight rebounds. Andrew Bellis added five points. Butler improved to 4-5.
Hockey:
–Knoch defeated Bishop Canevin 8-4. Nathan Ruediger led the Knights with a hat trick. Jacob Golab added two goals and an assist. Lance Cotton had a goal and two assists.
–West Allegheny defeated Freeport 12-3.
–Mars-5 Quaker Valley-4.
The Butler swimming teams swept Knoch Monday. The Butler Boys won 95-81. The Girls won 99-77.
