High School Sports:
Wrestling:
–Seneca Valley defeated North Allegheny 56-18 to win the Triple-A Section-3 championship last night. Butler defeated Hampton 49-18 to win the third-place section consolation.
Boys Basketball:
–Armstrong defeated Freeport 58-47.
–The Mars 9th grade Boys defeated Deer Lakes 73-52. The Planets visit Butler tomorrow afternoon.
Girls Basketball:
–Freeport defeated Armstrong 62-44. Sidney Shemanski led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points.
Bowling:
–The Butler Boys and Girls Bowling teams swept Seneca Valley 7-0 Wednesday at Mars Lanes. The victory clinched a post-season berth for the Golden Tornado.
The Butler Boys were led by Jordan Reges who rolled a 591 series with a high game of 206. Chris Huff added a 561 series and high game of 220. Ryan Thoma led Seneca Valley with a 579 series and high game of 224. Jason Hartenstein had a 551 series.
The Butler Girls were led by Reegan Malis who rolled a 523 series that featured back-to-back 189 games. Maddie Ferringer led Seneca Valley with a 499 series and high game of 207.
Both Butler teams improved to 7-1 overall. Both Seneca Valley teams fell to 5-3.
–Freeport split with Burrell. The Freeport Boys swept Burrell 7-0 and improved to 4-4 overall. Burrell fell to 0-8. Mark Livingston led the Yellow Jackets with a 651 series and high game of 230.
The Burrell girls won over Freeport 7-0, improving to 7-1. Freeport fell to 3-5. Jackie Clark led the Yellow Jackets with a 514 series.
–North Allegheny swept Mars 7-0.
