Boys Basketball:
–North Allegheny defeated Butler 81-74 despite 41 points by the Golden Tornado’s Devin Carney. The Tigers blew past Butler thanks to a 21-4 second quarter.
–Freeport defeated Keystone Oaks 66-59. Ben Lane led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points.
–Mars defeated Armstrong 65-47. Zach Schlegel led the Planets with 21. Tasso Sfanos added 20.
–Moniteau-52 Cranberry-44. Quinton Scriven had a double-double for the Warriors with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Girls Basketball:
–Moniteau-53 Cranberry-27. Catherine Kelly had 17 to lead the Warriors.
–North Clarion-49 AC Valley-43. Mia Sherman had 17 to lead the Falcons.
The Butler Bowlers swept Seneca Valley 7-0 last night. Rocco Rice led the Golden Tornado with a 569 series with a high game of 212. Jason Hartenstein led the Raiders with a 604 series and high game of 229. Rachael Blose and Reegan Malis combined to lead the Butler girls by each rolling a 551 series. Lauren Bash added a 549.
The Seneca Valley wrestling team will meet Waynesburg in the WPIAL 3A championship Saturday. Seneca Valley defeated Connellsville 42-24 in the semifinals last night. Waynesburg defeated North Allegheny 51-9. Waynesburg is the defending 3A champion and improved to 12-0 this season. It will be the third consecutive final appearance for Seneca Valley, who are now 20-1.
