Two basketball players in District 9 have reached the career 1,000 point mark in the last four days.
Taite Beighley from the Karns City boys basketball team passed the 1,000 point mark in Friday’s victory over Brookville. He had 18 points for the night. Taite joins his brother Chase as members of the Gremlins 1,000 point club. Chase Beighley set Karns City’s all-time scoring mark with 1,697 career points set in 2021.
Taite Beighley is the 14th Karns City player to surpass 1,000 career points. That is the second-best mark only to AC Valley’s 16 career 1,000 point scorers in District 9.
Last night, Jay Clover extended that AC Valley record with his 1,000th career point his team’s 79-75 loss to Cambridge Springs in overtime in a District 9-10 crossover game. Clover had a team-high 26 points in the game. He had needed 16 entering the game to reach the career mark.
