Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood was announced Wednesday as one of nine players to advance to the semifinal stage in the “seniors” category for the Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The finalists will be announced next week. The late Greenwood was a four-time Super Bowl winner and two-time first-team All Pro during his 13-year career from1969-to-1981 with the Steelers.
He ranks fourth on the team’s all-time sacks list with 78, though sacks weren’t officially recognized until 1982, the year after Greenwood retired. Five other Steelers are already members of the Hall of Fame from the fames “Steel Curtain.” L.C. Greenwood passed away in 2013 at the age of 67.
