Pennsylvania State House Republicans have once again introduced a bill to provide scholarships to students in “low achieving school districts.”
In 2023, Governor Josh Shapiro line itemed vetoed $100 million appropriated for lifeline scholarships when signing the budget.
Now house Republicans have introduced House Bill 1489 in attempt to secure funding the lifeline scholarships. Eligible families would be those with a household income 350 percent below the Federal Poverty guidelines or whose children attend the “lowest-performing schools.”
The bill has been introduced in the house education committee before a vote could happen on the house floor.
