Independence Health System is inviting residents to an event this weekend spotlighting lung cancer screenings.
The first annual Lung Cancer Awareness Walk will take place Saturday at the Crossroads Campus on Oneida Valley Road. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with a walk open to all ages kicking off at 10.
Registration is free and the day will include live music, refreshments, educational resources, blood pressure screenings, basket raffles, giveaways, and the opportunity to try out a simulation of a robotic lung surgery system.
Physicians and staff will be on hand to share information and answer questions. Proceeds will benefit Advanced Lung Center initiatives such as new technology at Butler Memorial Hospital as well as education about the dangers of tobacco and the importance of screenings.
Registration is available online through the Independence Health System website.
