Four of the five Independence Health System hospitals have been recognized for their heart and stroke care.
The Get With The Guidelines and Mission (GWTG): Lifeline Achievement Award from the American heart Association is only awarded to “facilities that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.”
Butler Memorial, Frick, Latrobe, and Westmorland all received the Gold Plus Achievement Award. Clarion Hospital is not participating in these recognition programs.
The hospitals honored have maintained at least 85% of requirements measured by the American Heart Association and 75% with select quality measures in stroked for a minimum of two consecutive years.
Some of the hospitals were also honored individually.
Westmoreland Hospital was honored with the Mission: Lifeline Award which for compliance in implementing American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Foundation clinical treatment guidelines.
Butler Memorial achieved the Target: Stroke Honor Roll, for reducing time between patient arrival and treatment. Also, Diabetes Honor Roll Award for ensuring Patients with type 2 diabetes receive the most up to date evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
