Independence Health System has received special recognition for efforts in support of organ donation.
The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania recently announced that Independence is among the top three systems in the Donate Life Pennsylvania Hospital Challenge is an annual campaign.
This initiative encourages hospitals across the state to promote organ, eye and tissue donation within their facilities and surrounding communities in the month of April.
121 hospitals across the state participated in this challenge through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the two organ procurement organizations serving Pennsylvania — the Center for Organ Recovery and Education and the Gift of Life Donor Program.
