A local municipality has chosen not to enter into agreements concerning road maintenance and police service.
Jefferson Township Supervisors have been considering a couple of intergovernmental agreements over the last few months but earlier this week decided to decline participation.
The first agreement included the possibility of police coverage from Saxonburg Police. Instead, Jefferson Township will continue to keep State Police coverage which meets township needs at this time.
The second proposal was to join a Multi-Municipal Comprehensive Plan with several surrounding municipalities. Since Jefferson does not have adequate infrastructure, zoning, or money available in the budget, supervisors decided to decline participation.
