Local attorneys are declaring victory after a federal judge rejected a motion made by the legal team of Governor Tom Wolf.
Judge William Stickman IV of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania has denied a request made by the Wolf administration for a stay on the enforcement of the ruling made last week that found COVID restrictions imposed by the governor to be unconstitutional.
PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro argued that Wolf’s limits on crowd size should remain in place due to the pandemic in the interest of public health. Stickman countered by stating that the administration had not offered specific evidence that gatherings limited by a specific number of attendees were any more or less dangerous than those limited by occupancy allowances.
This lawsuit was originally brought by Butler County and several other counties around the region and was tried by several attorneys with the Butler law firm of Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter, and Graham.
