An Allegheny County teenager is facing several charges in connection with an alleged assault by vehicle while under the influence in June.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Cranberry Township Police earlier this week, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Route 228 and Interstate 79 north around 2:30 a.m. on June 6th.
While speaking with the motorists involved, police detected a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech from the driver of one of the vehicles identified as 18-year-old Jaren Thimons of Sewickley.
After field sobriety tests indicated the presence of alcohol, Thimons was taken into custody. Footage from traffic cameras revealed that Thimons failed to stop at a red light before hitting the other vehicle.
Thimons has been charged with felony Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While Driving Under the Influence among other misdemeanors and summary offenses.
