The final group of Butler County students to begin their school year will do so today.
With a nearly $22 million renovation taking place at the Chicora Elementary School, Karns City Area School District was forced to delay the start date for elementary students. Sugarcreek Elementary students also begin their school year today.
This is the last year Karns City will have two elementary schools, as Chicora Elementary will house all students in kindergarten through 6th grade starting next fall.
Karns City administrators made a similar move ten years ago when Bruin Elementary school was consolidated.
