Earlier this week Karns City School District School Board Members were presented designs for a high school renovation project.
At their Tuesday meeting, board members were presented designs for facility upgrades.
The renovation was called a “small but comprehensive renovation” due to wear and tear in a building that hasn’t seen renovations since the early 1980’s.
The school board wants to make mechanical and electrical upgrades, HVAC updates, renovation of the auditorium including new seating, classrooms would receive refreshes with upgraded technology and science labs, and the board is considering a slight enlargement of the gymnasium.
The current estimated cost is around $30 million but no number has been finalized. No new taxes are expected, the project is expected to be funded through bonds and grants.
The earliest a decision could be made is sometime next month but a decision is more likely to be made in the early summer.
