A college athlete from Kittanning died while running in a half-marathon in Erie over the weekend.
Toby Atwood collapsed on the returning stretch of the Erie Runners Club Preque Isle Half-Marathon course. She was given immediate medical attention, but died at an area hospital.
Atwood was an Armstrong High School graduate and a rising senior at Thiel College, where she was a star tennis player and exceptional student.
No cause of death was listed.
A GoFundMe page has been started for Atwood’s family.
