The Knoch School District is advancing a major construction project at the High School campus.
At their Wednesday meeting, school board members accepted a bid from Mark Hudson Construction which was the lowest of four bids received to provide general contracting services.
The cost of this agreement plus the bids previously received from mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and food service subcontractors is expected to total just over $39 million which is very close to the amount of money the district borrowed for the project.
A reduction to the original scope had to be made after initial general contracting bids were too high. This includes the elimination of exterior site development that would have included a student drop off and parking area behind the stadium.
Still, Knoch Superintendent Dr. David Foley said that he is pleased that the project will provide “great learning spaces for students for years to come”. The contracts will now be sent out with a kickoff meeting for contractors planned for later this month.
