The Knoch School Board plans to increase taxes as part of the budget for the 2026-27 school year.
During the Wednesday night school board meeting, board members approved a preliminary general fund budget of just over $40 million which is an increase of about $300,000 compared to the current year.
The tax increase of nearly 3.3 mils is the maximum allowed and the nearly $600,000 in additional revenue that will be collected will allow Knoch to operate with a balanced budget. The average property owner in the district will pay nearly $70 more. This is the first time Knoch has increased their tax millage in nine years.
The proposed budget will now be posted for public review on the district’s website for 30 days to allow for feedback before a final vote is taken on next year’s budget next month.
