The Knoch high school Sports Hall of Fame will welcome its ninth induction class tomorrow night – Friday, December 13th – prior to the Knight’s home basketball game against Valley. The new class features five student-athletes and one coach.
The inductees include:
–Current athletic director and former basketball standout Josh Shoop, a 1991 graduate, who has also been a basketball coach at various levels. Josh remains the all-time leading scorer at Knoch.
–Greg Bzorek, a 2001 graduate, who earned multiple letters in three different sports. He went on to play football at Edinboro and has already been inducted into their Hall of Fame.
–Jade Thrower, a 2008 Knoch graduate, who also excelled in multiple sports. She went on to play softball at Edinboro.
–Brittany Faust, a 2010 Knoch graduate, who became a nationally recognized and state champion wrestler, while also competing for the Knoch soccer team and one season for Knoch football.
–Celina Sanks, a 2014 Knoch graduate, who was a four-year letter-winner in volleyball. She was team captain in her junior and senior seasons, named to All-State and All-WPIAL honors, as well as the Butler Eagle player of the year as a senior. She went on to become a four-year starter at Division 1 Eastern Kentucky.
–Coach Les Shoop, who led Knoch basketball from 1982-through-2006. Shoop’s teams won 299 games and qualified for the WPIAL playoffs in 11 seasons and the state tournament six times. Les Shoop has also been inducted into the Butler County and Armstrong County Hall of Fames as well as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Punxsutawney Hall of Fames.
