The Knoch School District will spend the remaining amount of a state safety grant on a fence along a large portion of school property.
At their meeting earlier this week, the Knoch school board accepted a proposal from Penn Fencing in the amount of $64,000 for a six foot high chainlink fence just over 2,300 feet long.
According to Superintendent Dr. David Foley, fence will cover the back of the Primary School near the playgrounds out to Dinnerbell Road. Although Penn Fencing was not the lowest bid, the district has had good experience with this local company. Additional funds from this grant have been used to improve video surveillance and other unspecified safety issues.
The installation of this fence is expected to take place before school begins this fall.
