With the new coronavirus relief package now law, the state’s Labor and Industry department is ramping up its efforts to distribute unemployment compensation.
Acting Secretary Jennifer Berrier says her department is now awaiting the go-ahead from the federal Department of Labor to distribute the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and Emergency Compensation programs.
“Together these two programs are assisting more than half a million Pennsylvanians with paying for necessities during the economic downtown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Berrier said.
The federal unemployment compensation plan will see the continuation of $300 per week on top of the weekly unemployment benefits.
