A serious crash on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township has backed up traffic on Thursday afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 3:30 p.m. for a vehicle split in half with at least three injuries near mile marker 91.8 northbound.
Crews from Harmony District, Portersville, and Cranberry were among those dispatched to the scene to find both lanes shut down but traffic attempting to move on the shoulder.
79 northbound had to be shut down at the Little Creek Road exit. The extent of injuries and cause of the crash are both unknown at this time.
