A lawmaker in Harrisburg is proposing legislation to provide parents a tax credit for primary and secondary school students to play youth sports.
The bill proposed by Senator Joe Picozzi of Philadelphia claims in the bill’s memo that parents spend an average of $1,000 per child annually to play youth sports.
The proposed bill would provide a tax credit up to $3,000 credit to help cover the costs of youth sports. This would allow for equipment, travel costs, and team fees to be covered under the credit.
It would also apply to both competitive travel teams to friendly clubs.
The bill has yet to be formally introduced.
