A newly proposed law could see electrical vehicle owners paying the highest fee in the nation.
The Transportation Committee approved a Senate bill that would see a $290 fee for electric vehicle owners in Pennsylvania.
Now the bill will go to the House Transportation Committee, where lawmakers say that number could change. The fee is similar to the 61 cents per gallon for the state’s gas tax that gasoline powered vehicle owners pay.
There are nearly 50,000 electrical vehicles registered it the commonwealth, which ranks 13th in the nation.
