Butler County is entering an agreement with Lawrence County in an effort to identify lead issues.
Lawrence County was awarded a $5 million federal Lead Hazard Reduction grant. As part of that award, they must help surrounding counties in an effort to mitigate lead hazards.
This includes a variety of activities like water testing, identifying lead-based paint hazards in older homes, and even replacing lead pipes.
Lawrence County will handle all of the environmental review process duties for Butler County per the agreement.
