The application period for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program officially opens today.
The program, also known as LIHEAP, usually opens in November but was delayed due to the federal government shutdown.
The state received more than $215 million for the federal program, which helps low-income residents pay their electric bills.
The minimum grant is $200 according to state officials.
The LIHEAP application period runs through April 10th.
Governor Josh Shapiro is also reminding residents that there is a winter moratorium on energy shutdowns.
