A local farm is receiving statewide recognition through a program preserving agricultural land for future generations.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the 63-acre Raisley Family farm operated by Harold and Connie Dunn is the latest to be named a Centennial Farm.
This operational sheep farm began in 1915 when Lawrence Raisley purchased the property. Butler County has 101 Century farms as well as two bicentennial farms.
Farms owned by the same family for at least 100 consecutive years are eligible to be named a Pennsylvania Century Farm. A family member must live on the farm, and the property must include at least 10 acres of the original farm or earn more than $1,000 annually from sales of farm products.
