A large number of Butler County Fire Companies will receive state grant money for operational expenses incurred as a result of COVID-19.
The grants are awarded by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner and can be used for operational expenses such as apparatus repair, fuel, personal protective equipment, utilities, insurance, and cleaning.
The Butler Township Volunteer Fire District will receive over $71,000. Harmony Fire District will receive nearly $37,000. Meanwhile departments in Penn Township, Butler City, Evans City, and Cranberry will all collect in excess of $25,000.
Funds must be used for expenses initiated on or after March 6th and completed on or before December 30th.
