Gas prices are continuing to drop both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, decreased by eight cents to reach $3.73 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by three cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.71. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.43, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.85.
The average national gas price dropped by a nickel over the past week to reach $3.36. This is 26 cents less than a month ago and 41 cents less than one year ago. The price of oil continues to drop due to a stronger dollar and reduced market concerns that conflict in the Middle East will escalate.
