Gas prices have jumped once again both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, rose by a nickel over the past week to $3.33 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by three cents during that same time to also reach $3.33. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $3.26 per gallon, while the most expensive is $3.36 in Mercer.
The average national gas price rose by two cents over the past week to $3.19 which is the most expensive so far this year. Even though the price of crude oil is a little cheaper, AAA expects gas prices to remain elevated due to demand staying high and gasoline stocks staying low.
