Gas prices have been edging upward both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by a nickel to $3.68 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by two cents to reach $3.62. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Clarion at $3.46, while the most expensive is in Oil City and Warren at $3.70.
The average national gas price dropped by three cents over the past week to $3.15. This is three cents more than a month ago but a quarter less than this time last year. Demand for gas and the price of a barrel of crude oil both increased slightly but are still relatively low.
