Members of the community are invited to an event this week to learn more about the history of a relatively new national holiday.
The Butler Clergy Network Anti-Racist Focus Group is organizing a Juneteenth Potluck Uniting in Song gathering on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Butler YWCA Preston Room on West Cunningham Street.
Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Local clergy and other community leaders will share historical information. The evening will also include a sing-a-long from the Justice Choir Songbook led by local musicians.
This event is free and open to the public.
