The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is rejecting calls by state lawmakers for the impeachment of one their justices.
Two Butler County representatives, Republicans Daryl Metcalfe and Jim Marshall, joined a resolution that says that Judge David Wecht has not been impartial or objective on the court.
The Republicans are particularly upset with recent decisions upholding Governor Wolf’s shutdown orders and allowing mail-in ballots to be counted three days late as long as they’re postmarked by election night.
A statement from the Chief Justice of the PA Supreme Court says trying to get rid of a justice over a difference of opinion jeopardizes the independence of the court.
