The son of Butler County’s president judge has entered a guilty plea to most of the felony possession of child pornography charges against him.
According to the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, John Paul Doerr III of Butler pleaded guilty to 36 of the 42 counts. No agreement on sentencing has been reached.
Doerr was arrested last January after allegedly confessing that he downloaded multiple videos, including one with a child as young as 1-2 years old. Investigators tracked him down using the IP address assigned to his computer.
Doerr is the son of Butler County Judge Thomas Doerr, who remains as the county’s president judge. However, he was relieved of the administrative duties of the position in 2017 after a lawsuit was filed against him alleging sexual misconduct and workplace discrimination.
