A local organization is moving forward with plans to designate part of the downtown Butler City area as a Rotary Arts and Cultural District.
Rotary Club of Butler (PM) Project Chair Leslie Osche is inviting the public to an education and visioning session on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Butler Middle School cafeteria.
Rotary has proposed that the district would extend from Jefferson to East Fulton Streets south to north as well as McKean to Wayne Streets east to west. In addition to Butler City Council, this effort is also being supported by Butler Downtown and Slippery Rock University’s Institute for Non-Profit Management and the College of Liberal Arts.
Rotary is assigning a matching district grant to the project. The group would like to see events and activities on Cedar Street as well as at the Library, the Maridon Museum, Butler Little Theatre, and the YMCA, as well as at various churches, non-profits, and businesses in that area.
