With plenty of events lined up over the next two days to remember the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a local resident has taken time to investigate whether or not Flight 93 went over Butler County.
Jack McMillen is the former county controller for Butler County and has spent a considerable amount of time investigating Flight 93’s flight pattern.
“Several years after 9/11 I noticed a graphic in a Pittsburgh news publication that showed the flight path of Flight 93 crossing Pennsylvania, basically following I-80, and then crossing over Butler County,” McMillen said.
McMillen then spent the next couple of years researching and eventually discovered that it did go over parts of the county.
“That flight did indeed go over Butler County. It entered very close to Parker, and went over Eau Claire, Harrisville, and then ultimately over Grove City and into Mercer County,” McMillen said.
McMillen added that planes still use that same flight path to this day.
