A local business is offering a lifeline to children as adults struggle to resolve a dispute that will hurt families in need.
As the federal government shutdown continues due to a failure to agree on a budget, SNAP food benefits will not be dispersed as usual in November.
That has led to The Hoagie Shop offering a free small hoagie to children with no purchase necessary beginning Saturday (11/1).
Children can choose from peanut butter and jelly, turkey and cheese, ham and cheese, or regular and must be present at the store to receive their sandwich.
