Several local school districts will receive state funding in order to help with providing education services for students with special needs.
According to State Representative Marci Mustello, four districts in Butler County have been awarded Special Education COVID-19 Impact Mitigation Grants.
Butler Area School District will receive over $85,000. Slippery Rock Area School District will collect nearly $27,000. South Butler County School District has been awarded over $12,000. Karns City Area School District will receive nearly $9,000.
The money will be specifically targeted to students who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 mitigation efforts and may face additional challenges in the upcoming year. Grant amounts were calculated using a formula based on the number of students with complex special education needs.
